Dad's Birthday, April 3, 2004 at Cleveland Botanical Gardens

The "Glasshouse" at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens features two different climatical areas: 1. dry, arid Madagascar and 2. the Costa Rican Rainforest. First, we went through Madagascar. In this photo, you see the 4 of us in Madagascar with desert plants around us. This baobab tree is a replica of a tree 200 to 300 years old in Madagascar. It is 2/3 water.

We walked through an airlock to go into the misty Costa Rican Rainforest. As you can see in this photo, the landscape is lush and green with bright flowers.

Brian walked under a waterfall. Mom and Dad are on a bridge that overlooks the rainforest. The view is great. There are thousands of butterflies here. They hatch from a box in the rainforest every couple of hours.
